Three creative pupils from Bingham Primary School have won a banner design competition to promote building site safety at Barratt Homes’ Romans’ Quarter development in Bingham.
The housebuilder enlisted the help of local school children to try and warn them about the dangers of playing near building sites now that they are getting ready to break up for the summer half term.
After receiving over 50 posters with various impressive designs, the homebuilder chose three posters to be displayed across fencing at the development from winners Ambrose Hui in Year 6, Morris Lai in Year 5, and Kaden Li in Year 4.
The winning pupils were each presented with a £20 voucher from National Book Tokens as a thank you and were invited to take a look at their designs on display.
Martyn Parker, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said:
“Our Romans’ Quarter development is predominantly family orientated so it is very important to us to promote the dangers of playing on a building site.
“Many children do not realise the hazards presented by building sites and perceive it as a fun and exciting place to play, especially in the summer when they have breaks from school.
“However, that is certainly not the case, and we are very grateful to Ambrose, Morris and Kaden, as well as the rest of the pupils at Bingham Primary School, for helping us to raise awareness and hopefully discourage children from entering building sites unattended.
“We would like to thank all of the pupils for the high standard of all the entries we received, but these three stood out to us and I’m sure they will make very bright and colourful deterrents.”
The judges were impressed with the colours used on each of the posters, and the dangers of playing on building sites which were highlighted.

“We were delighted to participate in the Barratt Homes competition. In school we have been discussing with the children how important it is to follow safety guidelines on building sites and they have really enjoyed creating their posters. It is wonderful to see their artwork now on display”.
