ANTI-BULLYING WEEK BACKED BY NOTTINGHAMSHIRE HOUSEBUILDER’S SCHOOL ART INITIATIVE

A housebuilder has empowered school children at Bingham Primary School to champion positivity and take a stand against bullying through art.

Barratt Homes has recently donated a set of rocks and art equipment to our pupils. They were given a unique task to transform ordinary rocks into canvases with colourful expressions.

The young artists embraced their mission with enthusiasm, adorning the rocks with uplifting messages and lively pictures, which were then strategically placed around the streets of the Romans’ Quarter development and within the show homes.

Sara Pask, Headteacher at Bingham Primary School, said:

"We have some talented artists amongst the children at the school and they really enjoyed decorating the rocks. We held various activities during Anti-bullying Week in school, but the rock painting was by far a favourite. The pupils had fun hiding their designed rocks around the housing development and we hope this supports the promotion of respect and inclusivity which is what Anti-Bullying Week is all about."

The pupils painted their rocks during Anti-Bullying Week, an annual event organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which took place Monday 13th November to Friday 17th November.

The campaign encourages the discussion of the stigma around bullying with the aim to enable everyone to live happy and healthy lives.

This timing added a special significance to the project, highlighting the importance of promoting kindness, inclusion, and positive interactions within the community.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said:

“We were thrilled to witness the exceptional designs around Romans’ Quarter created by the talented pupils of Bingham Primary School.

“By involving the students in spreading positivity and creating vibrant artwork during Anti-Bullying Week, we hope to send a powerful message of unity and kindness.”
